You’ll probably have some free time wihle you’re visiting, so what
should you do with it?
- For Kids, we like the Carnegie Science Center , and Sports Works , which are right beside each other on the North Side.
- For a great view of the city, and some nice pictures, take an incline ride to the top of Mount Washington. You can park at Station Square and walk across the street to the incline, a Pittsburgh must do!
- The Carnegie Art and Natural History Museum is a Pittsburgh classic. It’s a huge place, so don’t expect to see everything, but it’s well worth a visit.
- We have always enjoyed a trip to The Warhol Museum (Andy Warhol was from Pittsburgh); and for a look at some really eclectic art exhibits, check out The Matress Factory , both in the North Side.
- Head to Point State Park for the annual Three Rivers Arts Festival which is happening this weekend. (downtown)
- If you like to shop, we have a few areas in mind for you. The South Side Works is a fun area to stroll around, with shops like Z Gallerie, Urban Outfitters, and H&M, and also plenty of restaurants.
- Mary’s favorite Pittsburgh shopping spot is Walnut Street in Shadyside , and her all time favorite card/gift shop is Kards Unlimited—check it out! Walnut Street has a great mix of original shops mixed in with chain stores such as The GAP, Ann Taylor, and Victoria’s Secret.
- If you want a real Pittsburgh lunch, you can get it at Primanti Brothers . We rarely make a trip to Pittsburgh without making time for a Primati’s sandwich…. you have to try one for yourself to see what the hype’s about! There multiple locations: south side, downtown, oakland, and the strip district, so you should never be too far away!
- Another restaurant to check out is Church Brew Works , an old church that has been renovated into a brewery, good food and tasty brews.
You can get driving directions to these activities from your concierge. Have fun!
